This is a good idea for anyone who will be riding a motorcycle, but can also help you save money on your motorcycle insurance rates as well. Another easy discount to get is to purchase your motorcycle insurance coverage from the same agent who does your home and automobile insurance, so that you can get deeper discounts on all three.

Comparison shopping can also help you to find a good deal. You want to look at the cost of the coverage, as well as what that coverage entails. Sometimes the cheaper rate doesn’t necessarily provide you with a whole lot of coverage, so you have to be able to compare the smaller pieces together with the whole to make a good choice. Some insurance companies will even give you a better rate if you have a storage site for your motorcycle, such as a locked garage, or basement. If you refrain from riding your motorcycle in bad weather, taking it off the road during the winter months, you could also earn a discount.

And of course, maintaining a clean record with no accidents or tickets will also help keep your rates low. The lower risk you pose to the company, the lower your rates will be, so keep this in mind. Paying your monthly premiums in a timely manner will also go a long way towards getting low rates as well. If you feel that your rates are too high, before you change companies, talk to your agent, and ask to have your policy reviewed.
